Press Release

Mile High Fans

January 21, 2008

Six out of 10 Australian travellers are either members of the infamous Mile High Club or would like to become a member, according to a new survey.

The survey, conducted by leading online travel marketplace totaltravel.com, asked the question - Would you consider joining the Mile High club?

There were 1110 respondents to the survey, which ran over 4 weeks.

Almost one in two (526 people or 47 per cent) voted in the affirmative, stating they would love a sky high adventure, but they didn't have their wings yet.

Twelve per cent (134 voters) were already a member of the Mile High Club.

The remaining 42 per cent (450 people) voted in the negative, stating that cramped and smelly toilets were not their style.

totaltravel.com global marketing manager Paul Fisher said Australian travellers were more adventurous than he

"Love is in the air! When it comes to high altitude escapades, Australians are obviously an open-minded bunch!" Mr Fisher said.

"People are obviously looking for more stimulating entertainment than a movie or a CD when travelling by plane.

"Mind you, with the advent of the new A380 super jumbos - some boasting configurations with full-sized standalone beds - earning one's stripes is a lot easier than it once was."

Mr Fisher urged people to be respectful of their fellow travellers if gripped by Mile High madness.
